Meet our Captains

William Reed
Captain Will Reed is a co-owner and operator of BR Charters, and you can frequently find him around Blue Ridge, on the lake or surrounding waterways. He grew up on the water in Blue Ridge, fishing, boating, waterskiing and swimming. After graduating from Fannin County High School he attended Auburn University getting his FAA pilots license. In 2018 Will returned to Blue Ridge wanting to get back to nature, the outdoors and for a slower pace of life.
Captain Reed developed a passion for meeting people, exchanging stories of all Blue Ridge has to offer and showing his passion for the water to others. Having owned boats on the lake for years he wanted to find a way to share this beauty. This is the main reason BR Charters was founded. If you plan to take a fishing charter with BR Charters Captain Reed is the primary captain due to his knowledge of fishing tactics, species and years of fishing in the area.
Greg Allen
Captain Greg Allen is a co-owner of BR Charters. Growing up in Blue Ridge, Greg discovered a love for all things water. From the rivers to the lakes, most summers were spent exploring the sights and scenery that travelers visiting Blue Ridge have come to love.
Greg has both his undergrad and graduate degrees and works in Midtown Atlanta through the week. In his free time, he and his wife Holly and two children are often found exploring the outdoors and traveling.
With the hustle and bustle of city-life, Capt. Greg wanted to start a business that built ties back to the mountains he called home as a child growing up. Blue Ridge and the surrounding areas have changed, but the beautiful waterways that embedded memories have not.

Jim Edelstein
Captain Jim Edelstein was raised near the shores of the Long Island Sound. Boating and scuba diving were everyday activities throughout his youth.

Jim Worked on police boats during his 20 years of service with the NYPD as well as on party boats in New York Harbor and commercial workboats around the New York metropolitan area.
Jim has a passion for meeting people and sharing knowledge of the waterways that he now calls home.
